you dont wanna know
i'm looking at a scout scope for my M1A

i like aimpoints

but i just found a 2-7x burris handgun scope with a lighted reticle.

a aimpoint would limit my range

where as a the burris would extend it a bit

my question is how fast are a 2x optic on a scout rail?

are they as fast as a reddot?

what i like about the burris is i can dail it up for some more range :D

but how would the eye-relief work?

on there sight it says 11-24 for low power that should work i think.

Years ago, when I scouted my Remington 600 Mohawk, I first mounted a Burris pistol scope on it. It didn't work for me, the eye relief was wrong. For me, for the pistol scope required more distance/relief than the scout distance. I then purchased the superb Burris scout scope, a fixed 2.75 X.

There have been times I wished for more magnification, but it's not a perfect world in which we live, my friend. The Burris scout on my Remington is fast and deadly on river-bottom whitetails and coyotes. Here's a glance:

Cheaper than Dirt has some 2X Aimpoints for about $300 right now, I just picked one up and it's AMAZING. I will be putting it on a Springfield Scout Squad.

In actual magnifying scopes, I'd go with either the Burris or the Leupold Scout scope.
I found the Leupold is slightly brighter, but also a bit bulkier than the Burris.
I have three Burris Scout scopes here for that reason.

No prob kimberfan. I went with the 2MOA but I think you have it right, the Aimpoint's can be so bright a 1 MOA dot would be very easy for the eye to pick up. This is my first Aimpoint so I was playing it safe, I'm sure it will work good as well.
