Screw-on weaver rail design?

I'm designing a two-piece scope mount with a weaver rail that is separate from the scope mount body, the part that attaches to the rifle. The weaver rail is attached to the mount body by two or more screws. While this could theoretically be less sturdy than a one-piece mount, does it make a practical difference? Is there enough play between the two pieces tightly fastened by screws to noticeably affect accuracy?

It may affect alignment, but once everything is snugged down (and remains snug) then accuracy should not be compromised.
 
Rails are screwed on to rifles all the time without any ill effects. Just make sure that the mating surfaces match up well either by very close tolerance machining, lapping or bedding.

Properly done, there should be no movement whatsoever.

Make sure the mating surfaces match up perfectly flat,
Then hose it down with blue Loc-Tite on the mating surfaces and threads when you screw it together.

Once the Loc-Tite cures it will be one solid unit.
