I had the 40 caliber version. The trigger was terrible. The magazines were nice. It shot every brand of ammo I stuck in it.
I've purchased a couple of the SD40VEs and have never had a problem, one of them I replaced the sites with some from one of my M&Ps and replaced the springs and polished the trigger, I think that is worth the $25 and 1hr. My only complaint is the price of mags, I rarely see them less than $28, sometimes the 9mm will be $20.
In the end I doubt I would do anything to the slide. Just live with the silver color. I just wondered if there was a spray paint durable enough to coat the slide. A cerakote would be more than it was worth on a gun in this price range. I looked on Brownells but didn't see anything I would buy.
My co
My cousin used flat black exhaust header paint on his SD40, it gives a feel similar to a parkerized finish I believe. I think I'd have taped it off and used an aerosol type bed liner from the auto parts store.
**Note that I've never tried any of those so I can't say how solvents affect them as far as gun cleaners. Some of them are pretty nasty.**
the only real difference in them and the early Gen-2 Glocks was that silly white puff of cotton inside the trigger spring
I don't know what price range your looking for. I used the search feature at gun.deals & about the best price I saw was $299.99 for a SD40VE with a crimson trace weapon light. I believe it was at Sportsmans Outdoor Super Store. Not sure if shipping was included or not.
I would like to find a deal on one of these in 40 S&W. I for one thought the 40 S&W was one of the best SD rounds to have came about. It puzzles me so many have lost interest in it. I just checked Aim Surplus and every 40 they had has been sold out. I guess somebody still likes them.
