Under a federal warrant, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on Thursday morning raided the Gun Barn store in Highland Township.
With assistance from Michigan State Police troopers, ATF agents executed a search warrant, although the specific target of their search was not confirmed.
“I can’t tell you any more until the court unseals it,” said ATF agent Robin Shoemaker. “I anticipate a large seizure, but I can’t tell you what.”
Federal agents brought to the M-59 retail store two storage units as well as a 30-foot moving van. At about 11:30 a.m., a police dog was sent in.
On hand was Lt. David Pement of the Oakland County Sheriff Department’s Highland substation, who said that merchandise was being removed from the store.
“They’re taking all the firearms out,” Pement said.
At about 12:15 p.m. State Troopers started bringing out few guns from the building.
According to Shoemaker, federal agents have been investigating the business for about a year. She said a second Gun Barn, in Otisville in Genesee County, was also raided by ATF agents Thursday.
