sealing primers

I will throw my hat in the "no seal" ring, deer, pig and duck hunting often in crap weather, ammo whether home built or factory, getting wet, dropped... never had an issue.

I do use nail polish (red, green white and blue) to colour code my reloads

Hello..as far as the sealed primers go..when you shoot the bullet and no soot or smoke comes out from around the primer, wouldn't they be waterproof? You should be able to tell by looking at the empty cases. Seems like the pressure would send soot or smoke out around the primer and leave a stain on the brass like it does around the mouth of the case. If no soot or smoke gets out under pressure, could water or moisture get in? I looked at my empties and I don't see any evidence of any soot or smoke stains.

After 12 hrs bone dry

Loaded a 30/06 up without powder last night without any sealer. Threw it in a pan of water (a couple inches deep) for a little over 12 hours. Pulled the bullet. Bone dry inside.

Longer ago than I like to admit, I took a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters between Minnesota and Canada. I had an SP101 in my kit, along with some spare ammo, all handloads. I was fretting over the primers not being sealed. We were in the back country for two weeks. It rained everyday and every thing got soaked, gun and ammo included. :(
I didn't fire it on the trip, but when I got back I shot the ammo out of curiosity. It all fired.
