Searching for morels (pic heavy)

Technically, I don't think that this qualifies as a shed, but I found it while turkey hunting two Saturdays ago.



I doubt if it died naturally, somebody shot it and either didn't or couldn't track it. Its a shame, thats a nice buck for these parts.

Made a hot Morel and bacon dressing and served in over a wilted spinach salad with sliced duck breast. My wife is an excellent cook and a genuine foody

My wife is also a foodie. That's why my old gunbelt wont go around me.
Not enough morals this year to do much of anything.
She made a dish last night with chicken and portabello mushrooms. It was good but not morels.

Those two have at least a couple of good knife handles in them.

I'm a man with no morels. This is the first time I've heard of them. I like those sheds though! And Shanghai's thinking.

I found fourty in the yard for Mother's Day. I put them on the steaks. They were wonderful! So was the Snow Crab.
The time is nigh for Morels up here. And I love to look for them! What better way to spend an hour with the kids! Even if they don't like them, and Logan steps on half of them...

It's our first walk-about of the season and I chomp at the bit for it. We find so many that I leave most of mine. If the kids or Grandma find it, it's plucked. They may not be as pretty, but the ones smashed by tiny fingers taste best!

I find myself with a stainless Nineteen Eleven when we go out. It kind of precludes any plinking for me, but it just feels right. I have many pistols, but seem to grab that most often. I even have nicer (and lighter) Nineteen Elevens, but this one is "right".

I have never come across a shed in my roamings though... Very cool findings @Armored farmer.

I don't know if its luck, eyesight, or just changes in the area reducing their numbers but I haven't found a single morel in 3 years now. I don't go looking as often as I used to, but I used to find at least ten every time I would go out looking for them. I've gone looking for morels at least five times each of the last three years and nothing every time and this is searching the same area I always have. Its like they just stopped growing all of the sudden. Either that or someone is trespassing and getting them all before I do.

Armored Farmer, I guess I never read your info well enough to see that we're practically neighbors, I'm on the other side of the Southern region about 8 miles off the Mississippi. I normally find more sheds off of my horse than anything else but this year two off of the tractor and one while on the 4 wheeler. Its been a slow year I've only found one off of my horse, but my daughter is claiming about 8 that she has found, somehow she found them but I'm the one that stopped and said 'what's that over there?'
