Just got this scope off eBay for my old Sears .22, its a 3-9x40mm Tasco Pronghorn.

It seems like it mounted ok, I'm just worried about the mounts as I've never seen this type of mount for a .22 before. I can't seem to locate them online anywhere either so I'm not sure if they came with the scope when the guy bought it or what.

I don't know what brand they are.
But a Tasco Pronghorn high-power scope didn't come with them.

You would probably have better luck if you pitch the very high see-through rings and buy some Medium or Low .22 3/8" tip-off rings at Wallyworld.

The scope as pictured is mounted too high above the bore to get a good cheek-weld on the stock.
It would also be mounted too far back over the stock for me, as I would be hitting myself in the eye with it.

At any rate, I believe you will shoot better with the scope mounted lower.

Thanks, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet so I may come to the same conclusions as you. My initial thoughts are that it seems pretty decent height for me, since the 22 is so small.

I don't think the high mounts rings are necessary for a .22 either.

rcmodel,

I think you are right, it does seem too high. I'll go get some lower rings like you suggested.

Thanks again
