My 223 is getting rebarreled and chambered to 223 ackley improved. I'm going to use my same lee collet die and just get a redding body die for now. My is question is about my redding competition seater die for 223 rem, will it work for the ai? I don't want to spend the money on new seater if I dont have to. Thanks

I doubt that a 223 seating die will work for your Ackley. Although I'm not familiar with the Redding competition seater, any other seaters I've seen have internal dimensions just a little larger than the sized brass so that the bullet is kept in alignment with the sized case while seating. The shoulder and body of your Ackley fire formed brass will be oversize in comparison to the 223 sized case.

The Lee collet sizer will work for both calibers because the collet is flat on the bottom and does not follow the shoulder angle.

I've shot 223 Ackley for many years and I can send you some Ackley brass so you can see if it will fit in your seater. I don't think it will.
