20161231123309_IMG_1491.JPG 20161231123309_IMG_1491.JPG i had done a straight trade with my 227 for a 220 a few weeks ago as i couldnt shoot it well.

first time it took it out i thougt it shot low and was able to adjust for it. it seemed to like my 230 plated xtreme loads better compared to the swcs.

took it out to the range yesterday with my 1911 and shot it side by side and then spent more time with it to get a better feel for the trigger.

this time i think the sights are spot on but at longer distances i do have a tendency to shoot low.

the pics are a comparison of the targets. left to right 10 yrds offhand , 10 yrds offhand and then 25 yrds offhand. fired two 5 shot strings at each target.

very happy with it. top level is the sig and bottom is my LB P II. the 1911 at 25 yrds gave me a grin as the first 5 shot grp
even had 3 shots in 1 hole and all clustered around the bulls but then i then had a larger grp with the next 5 rds.

after shooting the above targets went to shooting 6 inch gong at 25 yrds and 10 inch gong at 50 yrds. missed more so than with my 1911 esp at 50 yrds where i seem to have to hold higher compared to the 1911. but hits where fairly consistent expecially since the 6 inch gong swings quite a bit with the hits.

my finger is learning the trigger. great way to end 2016 range days when you have a great shooting day.
btw from my tally at the back of my range pass i went to the range 32 or 33 times this yr.

i think i just fell for the hype on the 227 with it's 2 extra rds. i like this one much better mainly with the grip.

P220 did well, especially considering the 1911 was a LB PII! How were you shooting the Sig. all SA or DA first shot of the string?

I had a Model 220 and sold it to get a Model 227. Even though I have bigger than average hands, I preferred the E2 grip (the same as the Model 226 that I have) to the Model 220. Having a two more round capacity was just icing on the cake.

the targets were shot with SA. i then shot the gongs with some strings of only DA and i had more misses compared to all SA

SIG sights are calibrated for a "combat hold" vice the "six o'clock" hold most of us are used to. SIG sells taller/shorter front & rear sights.

I WISH I could shoot groups like those with my either of my P220s but pretty much all of my guns are capable of better accuracy than I am. :(

I do not have a P220, but I do have a P226 TACOPS in 9mm that shoots very well for me. I might need to look into the fell of a P220 in the near future given the positive feedback that I hear.
