Elmers Ultimate glue. It's a polyurethane type glue. It expands when it dries and can be shaped. Not real good if you are going to stain the finished product but very few products are as durable

It's the same thing as Gorilla Glue. Just as bad. As I've posted before, when Fine Woodworking did an exhaustive torture test, polyurethane glues failed HORRIBLY in every possible category, often achieving mere fractions of the ultimate strenth of even old yellow carpenter's glue.

They're all marketing hype. Even the "gap filling" capacity is useless fluff.

Both polyurethane glues (Gorilla and Elmer's Ultimate) and yellow carpenters glue are not recommended for stock work. Both have to be clamped under pressure to work properly and yellow glue is susceptible to breaking down if moisture is present. Get either on the surface of a stock and neither will take stain.

The best glue for stock work is a two part epoxy. It's stronger than both of the other varieties and impervious to moisture. Brownell's Acra-Glass is actually a two part epoxy and can be mixed to create whatever color you desire. And Sam is right, Gorilla Glue stinks.
