I have yet to find a direct comparison between these two rifles. I may be in the market for a higher end hunting bolt rifle.

Has anyone handled/shot one or preferably BOTH of these rifles? Going to be in .308 most likely. Slim chance i go with a Creed.

Barrett Fieldcraft

Seekins PH1

The full customs are a bit over budget. Both above can be had for less than 2k.

Thanks in advance!

I'd guess the reason you haven't found a direct comparison between these two rifles is that they are kind of at different ends of the spectrum, meant for different purposes.

The Barrett is an ultralight for mountain hunting, similar in concept to offerings from Kimber or NULA.

The Seekins on the other hand seems to be more along the lines of a precision rifle lightened up a bit (but not nearly as light as the rifles mentioned above) for hunting, I'd assume generally at longer ranges, with prone shots. The Seekins seems to have much more in common with rifles like The Fix by Q, or Christensen's the Modern Precision Rifle, than an ultralight mountain rifle.

Personally, I have a use for the first kind of rifle, I have a Montana and am mulling over picking up one of threaded Barretts. I'm not so much interested in rifles like the Seekins, it isn't light enough to be anything special for backpack hunting, and it's lighter than I like my precision rifles for shooting matches and steel. Kind of an in-between rifle that I can't think of a compelling use for.

What is your intended purpose for this rifle purchase?

It’ll be a hunting rifle. Nothing like extreme goat hunting. Bith are sufficiently lifht enough that I wouldnt notice much difference between the two.

Leaning closer toward the Seekins. I like the stock on it better. But the Barrett is intriging.

The Barret is interesting with some nice features but I won't own a hunting rifle that doesn't have a locking bolt so there isn't one in my future.

I just picked up a Seekins Havak in 6 Creed. Saw it in the shop and couldn’t stop myself. It’s meant as a stand in for steel games while my new main match rifle is being built. Mine is the McM Game Warden stock, not their new in house carbon stock. I’m a big A3 fan, so the GW isn’t too unfamiliar. It’s a very light rifle, maybe too light for my needs, but it’s a lot easier to make a rifle gain weight than lose it.

Think we could get a review of that Seekins when you have a chance VT? Im actually very interested in both of these rifles, they seem like good options for the two really different styles of hunting i do.
