Me too. My shooting partners demanded I install a beavertail many years ago... they said it didn't look right to have someone on the range with a blood stained gun and tears rolling down the cheeks. :)

I don't "mess" with anyone shooting a mil-spec with a high thumb hold, I fiqure their threshold of pain is quite high...hitting them would have little effect. :D

:D

I haven't been bit in a l-o-n-g time. It was not a hammer bite, I think the fellas gun had had the safety filed sharp to pare apples or something.

Last time I had blood, I also got real muddy. I still think 'style points' need to be scored. I fall "real good", and keep the muzzle safe. Not my fault the stage moved and attacked me. :)

Hey Dave...beats watching TV or reading another alien zombie thread - huh? :p

Just what is the deal with Tuner and Cheerleaders? :)

Thats all that counts NightCrawler. We will just sit back and enjoy our basic 1911's the way they are.

I don't want Fuff upset with me...

So do your moderator edit dealie and clean this up and bail me out, and yourself. Delete this post too...hurry before that nice gentleman Old Fuff see's it....

Once upon a time (maybe they still do) there were shields made that went between the safety and the slide to protect shooters' thumbs if they kept their thumbs on the safety.

I have found myself shooting thumb high a few times, but have never been bitten. IMO, the practice comes from the gun games where stages required a lot of safety manipulation. The downside is that your grip on the pistol is somewhat weakened, allowing it to move in your hand.

The only case of slide bite I've seen was when a chap used a revolver hold, with the support thumb across the back of the gun hand. The slide got him good!
