I know an article I wrote was referenced on THR when the IDPA Tactical Journal first came out, but unless you are an IDPA member you might not see a hard copy of the Journal.

Anyway, a recent article of mine is now posted online for all to see. It has just as much bearing on self defense as a whole as it does specifically to IDPA.

Enjoy. Comments welcome.

I really like the part about thugs exiting the car to attack. You asked some questions I never thought of until I read a police report recently. There was a group of thugs using their car as a mobile assault vehicle. They would rapidly jump out, pull a gun, assault the person, rob them and flee.

After somebody fought back they started shooting the people before exiting the car. People were shot in the legs and abdomen with bird shot and pistol rounds. (Obviously using different guns at different scenes.) Then they would jump out, rob the victim, and pistol whip them.

Those are not scenarios the average person ever thinks of or prepares for. So, to see you bring it up was cool. It is good to know that IDPA has people setting up courses that ponder these things.

I wanted to try IDPA but the rule book was too thick and I couldn't find a "friendly" competition in NC.

Well done. Article favorited and the text has been copied to my computer. You're okay with that, right?

Of course.

Good to see that posted again! Great article -- should have been a book.

Ah, you have a little insight? I've actually been commissioned to write two books. With an already full work schedule, it takes longer than one might think. They are on the horizon though - have a deadline to meet.
