Also, in addition to the stock .30-06, you can get them chambered for .338 and .458 win mag

How about a lever gun? Say, a Marlin in one of the newer Hornady Leverevolution calibers should put you out past 150 yards.

Ok so which of these two would you pick and why? Uses would be hunting 150 yards and less for large, possibly dangerous game.

or
Browning BAR in .338 Winchester Magnum

I'd choose the Browning BAR, because the style of the receiver better accommodates the attitude of my head when shooting

Well, I'd choose the BAR, but that wouldn't be my first choice of caliber. The caliber is way way too much for 150 yards, but it would work I guess if you like hard kicking rifles and high priced ammo.
