It seems that the older I get the more weird I am! I recently got my first FAL rifle and since it was real ugly when I got it (South Amfrican Cam Scheme) I immediately painted it so that I would not be ashamed to take it to the range the first time.

Anyways...after shooting it that very first day I dropped it off at a gunsmith to have it professionaly refinished (metal parts) with a black teflon finish and ever since then I have been in a real bad funk! Is this seperation anxiety?

Do any of you feel lost when one of your babies is not at home with you?

I have only been a gun owner for about a year now and I am becoming very attached to my weapons. When I get home from work I usually lay my Kimber Ultra Carry on the kitchen counter, sometimes I forget to take it to the bedroom with me, if I do forget it and decide I'm too lazy to go fetch it I have nightmares that I need my gun but am unable to get to it! Is this too weird or do some of you feel the same way?

Do you have seperation anxietys about your guns?

Whaddya mean, "ugly"? :what:

Those colours worked just fine for me during the Angolan bush war :neener:

Seriously, congrats on a fine purchase - now, how much did it cost...and where do I find the emoticon for "envy"? :D

Yes! I dropped my Series 80 Colt off at my favorite local gunsmith's place to get a new barrel fitted. The gunsmith is a very good-natured guy and quite knowledgable about 1911's, but it always takes a long time to get guns back from him. He's always swamped with work and if he estimates it will take two weeks, it's gonna be four :uhoh: .

Well, after a month, it's finally ready. I haven't held my 1911 for so long I think I'm developing a nervous twitch. Luckily I got to fire a friend's Les Baer two weeks ago to ease the pain. I think I'm starting to stray. . . last week I entertained ideas about getting a Glock  .

ANDYC....she was REAL UGLY!

Allthough this is not an actual picture of her she looked EXACTLY like this...

As soon as I got her home (I picked it up in Dallas) I changed out the furniture and spray painted it with black BBQ paint before I would take her out in public...

I can't wait until I see her all dressed up in a new Teflon coat!:what:

I actually traded a Kimber Stainless Pro Carry for this gun

You're right - that is damn ugly! I notice there's a flash-hider (we called it a blitsbreker) on the barrel and it appears have the rifle-grenade sights - can't quite see clearly, but very nice.

I don't have any pics of my bush-time there (or most of my life) due to a burglary, otherwise I'd post pics of what we carried - more a sand-brown colour than that horrible green.

Edit: Ah, wait, I've found my sole surviving pic of SA camo which might give you an idea - a DC3 shot-up by a SAM7 over the salt-pans between Ondangwa AFB and Rundu AFB in May 1987 (didn't realise at the time I could have been shot as a spy if caught with a camera there):
