Here is a real series 70, WWII edition. Every single part is correct, not a rework. From the original owner, a tanker in WWII. Five correct magazines, etc. Shot and it works flawlessly. What magnificent piece of history.
Nice Remington-Rand. Glad to see you shot it. Wont hurt a thing. I turned mine into a Bullseye pistol back in the 60's. I picked it up for $45 one night at the indoor pistol range. Years later, sold it to a guy that was going to make it original again. Not easy to do when the new target front sight is peened and brazed in.
These days 1911's fall into two very simple categories:
1. Guns with stupid, nay useless, firing pin blocks are what is commonly called Series 80
2. Guns produced as God and John Moses Browning intended without firing pin blocks are commonly referred to as Series 70
No firing pin block? It's Series 70 just like every single other 1911 ever made between the year 1911 and infinity.
Clips / Magazines - Most people understand what you mean. Working in the store everyday I found all you do is piss people off correcting them on trivial stuff like this. So as long as there is no harm I let it slide. Just one of many gun related things I have learned not to let bother me after selling guns retail for the last six years.
