Just purchased my first 1911 NIB and am happy with the results of 2 trips to the range and about 200 rnds expended. No problems of any type. Hope to be able to learn a few things here, to be able to enjoy the gun more. Thanx

Great gun. Shoot it stock for a while. Once you determine what you like and don't like about the stock configuration then send it off for custom work. They are a nice basic foundation for a custom gun. That said many people shoot them as is.

Enjoy.

Welcome! Enjoy that Colt for a while and IF you decide to have mods made spend some time looking for a 'smith that specializes in ser 80 Colts and you won't be sorry! Congrats ;)

thanks for the returns. It's interesting to note that everyone mentions modifications(not that I wouldn't). I have a smith in town who has published a paper in a biblical style explaning the heresy involved, and the subsequent trouble brought on oneself for altering one of J.M.B's finest designs. It's very funny, but to the point. So, to that end I have no wish to incur Randy's wrath,at least not yet.
