Hey guys! I have a Ruger GP100 with a 4" barrel, and I'd like to get a 1980s-1990s police style duty revolver holster for it.

This will obviously not be used for concealed carry, just for outside while in the woods and walking my property at night etc., and of course will be used at the range with my Safariland speedloaders + dual pouch. :D

Does anyone know of a good outfit where I can find this at? I have no real preferences, but would prefer a thumb break holster as that's what I'm used to, and also something in black to match my Beltman leather belt and Safariland dual speedloader pouch would be nice. Price is not an issue, but I'd like to stay under $150 if at all possible.

So far I've found this:

https://blackhillsleather.com/law-e...ters/police-duty-holster-basketweave-347.html

It's a Black Hills duty holster for revolvers. It looks good to me, but I'm not sure about this brands reputation. Other than that, I haven't found to much and just need some help finding some leather for my GP100!

Thanks so much fellas,

Cooldill

I would surf eBay for surplus. Ten bucks would be big money for old duty gear. There are truckloads of it out there....maybe in the landfill, but it's out there.

Tex Shoemaker....

CA's Tex Shoemaker makes nice leather gear for working cops & federal agents.
They make the holster used on the hit series; The Walking Dead. ;)

I would also check out the used holster bins at most gun shops & guns shows. You can find some real bargains there on some good working holsters. A LGS near me has a near new Ted Blocker duty holster for a Python right now for $20.

get a 1980s-1990s police style duty revolver holster for it.

If you are in no hurry try E-bay, I've picked up several Speed-Safety break front duty holsters there for less than $30.00 each. Great holsters, with the Old School L/E Look.

Look on Ebay and your LGS or Police Supply. There are TONS of duty holsters in new or like new condition that are paper weights now. They can be picked up for super cheap.

For the era, you would be good with a Don Hume Jordan holster. They are on eBay all the time. If you can find one for a Python, it should fit about right.

I bought some Bianchi and Don Hume duty holsters, (unissued LE trade-in) for $10/each, from my LGS. They are left handed, as am I. I couldn't pass them up.
Got one for 586/4", 5906, 5946, and a Safariland 5906 duty holster.
Nice leather for a nice price.
Figure I'll use them when hunting, for my backup/snake piece.
Now, I just need to get a belt for them.

The Safariland has two set screws in the top of the belt loop.
Anyone know what is the reason for that?

Well, I carried a revolver for duty in the 80's... it doesn't get much more real than a Bianchi paddle holster with a thumb-snap strap over the hammer. Suede lined. They're actually very nice. I still have 2 although I no longer carry those weapons.
