Setting Headspace

We got 28" (Their longest without extra charge.) 10 twist for about any bullet we cared to try, THREE groove.
My more experienced friend had signs that the three groove barrel would last longer than more conventional six groove.
I don't remember the profile number, something close to the factory varmint so we wouldn't have to enlarge the barrel channel in the stock.

Thank you! I also have the factory varmint barrel and will do the same.

Another question for anyone: I played around with the various devices for determining where bullet was with relation to the lands. After buying tons of gauges, comparators, etc I saw a great Youtube video that has been posted here many times, where a method was used by removing the firing pin, etc from the bolt, then adjusting the OAL until the bolt closed with out catching....is there a similar method (short of gunsmith services, and if required that is OK) to determine the absolute minimum shoulder set back to a given headspace?

Seems a similar method could be used (for a given chamber and its current headspace) to determine this? i.e., adjusting shoulder bump until no "crush" feeling? Or am I just being overly OCD about this? Heaven knows I about drove myself crazy with the comparators.....

Oh, did you get "Match" or "Super Match"?

Thanks again!

Might take you a few minutes to find with a particular bullet but “smoke” the bullet with a candle or color with a sharpie, if it contacts anything, you will see copper at that location. Using jacketed bullets of course.

Thanks again, its a bit more...I'm just a target shooter, let's see what play money is available. I didnt see anything on their site about the "sniper" chamber for the SMK 178 grain, but sent an email in regard.

Thanks again,
