Sheridan Blue Streak

Yes, there are still repair kits out there for sale. There are at least two types out there and you'll have to figure out which kit you need. I repaired mine some years ago. It was kind of tricky, as I recall--at one point you have to hold a fairly strong spring compressed and screw a part into some brass threads. I managed it but I didn't have fun doing it.

The process looks a lot like this.

M.A.C-1 used to provide a STEROID service increasing the plenum volume and increasing the cocking arm strength. Reworked the valve for quicker transfer. I think he's still out in Cal / or somewhere west coast.

Do you have a picture of it? Inthink there were ones with a soldered in valve which are trickier than the newer valve.

Here's a pic:

Thank you for your pics and the links. I still have 500+ Sheridan 5MM pellets on hand. I was looking around tonight for a source for additional pellets and they seem hard to find.

There are .20 cal (5mm) pellets out there, but I don't believe anyone's making the old "ashcan" style Sheridan pellets anymore.

Benjamin bought Sheridan in the late 1970s and then Crosman bought Benjamin Sheridan in the mid 1990s. Crosman discontinued the Sheridan rifles and although they still sell some airguns with the Benjamin name on them, they are nothing like the original Benjamin rifles. As far as I can tell, Crosman doesn't sell any .20 caliber/5mm airguns any longer and no pellets in that caliber either.

It's not all bad. My Sheridan shoots the diabolo pellets quite well. As I recall, the accuracy's better with them than with the Sheridan style pellets.

Can you please share the brand, weight, and possibly where to find these ?
My old mid-70’s Blue Streak has been going hungry for quite some time now, it would be nice to start using it again, fantastic little rifle !
Thanks, Rex

We used to have a repair station here that did rebuilds cheap. I took my Sheridan and my old Benjamin pump to them for overhaul kits and got them back in just a few days at under $15 for both guns! Unfortunately the owner retired and couldn't find a buyer for the business, so now there's nobody doing this locally.
Both my airguns are one pump after new seal kits were installed. Before it took 20 pumps and still they were wimpy.

Been looking around for 20MM pellets and there are options out there. Ebay sells the originals for an obscene price. Have to watch them rascals at EBay. Exact makes Diablo pellets this size as JohnKSa says at a reasonable price. Might give the Diablo's a try.

Here are some more places that sell 5mm/20 caliber pellets.

Not sure Mac1 is around any more? I wonder if "they" got him?
The last I heard Tim at Mac 1 was recovering from an accident and was working to get his web sight back up. His rebuild kits were the best in my opinion. I used them on my 1970s Sheridan and Benjamins. Both hold air indefinitely. His kit uses Teflon seals to replace the lead ones and they worked great. I also got his adjustable pump rod to get the headspace between valve and pump cup just right as my gun has the nonadjustable rod. It makes a difference in how much air you get into the gun per pump when you eliminate excessive headspace.

I have a rocker safety Sheridan like yours and this is the pellet JSB Diabolo Exact 13.73g that it shoots the best. After rebuilding the gun shoots 690fps over my chronograph on 8 pumps. This is right at the advertised FPS back when it was new.

I wish him well and hope the website come back up. He did a Steroid 392 for me a few years back.

I once lusted for a Sheridan but since pellets were impossible to find I settled for a Benjamin 22 caliber instead. Between my son and I we wore it out to the point where the charging level won't stay up in place. The old thing still shoots although I replaced it with another Benjamin after having no luck with repairing the charging handle linkage. The Benjamins have been pretty accurate but I still wonder how the first would have compared with a Sheridian.

I found my Sheridan at a trading post store. It was in very poor condition and in a bin of old yard tools with a few BB guns. I only gave $35 for it as it did not work at all. I always wanted one but these days the working originals were going around $250 when I saw one for sale. Here is after and before pictures with a Mac1 rebuild kit and a lot of work while researching online rebuild instructions. IMG_2560.JPG IMG_E0307.JPG

I have had a Sheridan Blue Streak for decades. Tack driver for sure in it's time. It is old enough now that it won't hold pressure when pumped. Are there rebuild kits available for it?
First off, join gateway to airguns
Second, do a search for "alchohol flush" - look on youtube also
I was skeptical about it but it actually works
Cheers
