Shield 9 or XDS9?

The purpose of a CCW pistol isn't for the pleasure shooting on your property. A lot of people don't care about magazine failure until one fails, and Murphy's Law will dictate that it will fail at the worst possible time.

Spare mags for your CCW pistol aren't that expensive.

You just asked what I'd do if one broke at the range so I answered, I never said I own one for the pleasure of shooting on my property. I practice on my property so I stay relatively proficient should the need arise to use my handgun. If a magazine were to break, I have other carry guns I can practice with and carry until I order a replacement.

I'm not a person who wants to (or feels the need) to carry spare magazines with me when I'm out and about, so owning spares does me no good.

For Myself going of topic somewhat, multiple magazines for each pistol usually (6) per double stack and (12) for single stack such as 1911 series pistols.

What of your magazine fails when you're NOT at home and in an area when a SD scenario arises? You gonna tell the bad guy, "Hold a minute until I go back home and get a spare mag or until the one I ordered arrives."?

I have the 9mm Shield but have never tried the XDS. My Shield is very accurate and soft shooting for a carry gun. To date I have not had a failure to eject even when practicing with cheap ammo.

Then I'd walk 100 feet from my range to my house and grab a different gun.

OK, I’m just a little jealous.

I'm not really concerned, in 20 or so years of shooting the only mag failures I've had has been 10/22 factory 10 round mags which was fixed by spraying them out with cleaner.

You are indeed lucky. Or maybe I’m just unlucky. I have had lots of magazine failures and just plane worn out a few. I like to have lots of extra mags around. I like to load them up at home before I get to the range. The one I have to drive to.
