XDS vs Shield

I was going to recommend one of the various slip on rubber sleeve grips---cheap and easy to reverse if you don't like it.

I went in with an open mind when looking for a single stack 9----I looked over and played with all the various models and came home with a Shield---the XD didn't do it for me at all, but then again neither did the Ruger, Glock, Kahr. This was before the rebate---so paid full price.

Interesting. I'm about the opposite, although I cannot say that I have fired the Shield all that much. A friend has the Shield, I have the XDs. AND.... I did put a Powder River spring kit in the XDs, which makes the trigger far, far better than the factory trigger in the Shield. So maybe I'm slightly biased. I have not carried the Shield, but I have carried the XDs considerably. I found that I much preferred shooting the XDs, as it fits me better. I also don't care about the comfort factor - I didn't buy it to shoot a bunch at targets. I shoot it enough to be comfortable with it, and that's it. I figure if I have to use it, the comfort factor will be the least of my worries, and 5 or 6 shots isn't something I'll notice at the time. A tighter group when shooting at a target isn't a factor for me either, if the group is tight enough for center mass shots at about 7 yards.

That's what makes our country great... especially on Memorial Day weekend! We can all get what we like the best!!

Happy shooting, everyone!

Thanks to giggitygiggity, I ended up buying the shield 45 for $299. Now I'll have to compare it to my XD9 subcompact.
