What holster are you guys using for your Shields and specifically the Shield Plus? I was using a $30 safariland IWB and couldn’t get a full grip on a Shield 1.0 to draw and shoot. I’m wondering if the Shield plus is any better and maybe a better holster would help.

Probably either too big of a sweat shield, though I don't know Safariland's line-up that well, especially their IWB holsters to know if the offer something like that, or the holster is riding too low in the pants. The latter is more likely, but it may need to be the case to keep the gun/holster from rolling over the belt if it rode too high. A problem with short barrel guns.

I don't know if it is an option for the Shield line-up, but some folks use a holster for a longer barreled version of the gun for more in the pants stability, such as a G19 holster for a G26, or a G17 holster for a G19 or G26.

I've tried several over the years. My favorite is a leather pancake style I made myself...before that it was a Hidden Hybrid.

Since I'm in NJ and haven't gotten my carry permit yet, I only carry around the house and property. I have worn my Shield 45 in a Crossbreed mini tuck for hours. At 3:30-4 it's comfortable and allows a good grip when I practice drawing.

DeSantis Mini Slide Leather OWB, Clinger Gear Kydex IWB, Shield Plus Performance Center.

Recluse for pocket carry. Everything I bought for my Ruger SR9c fits the Shield Plus like it was molded for it. Crossbreed IWB, Zlogonje OWB.

I didn't have to buy much.

This is the holster.

That’s interesting. Makes me want to find an SR9c holster just to try it out.

I have the Crossbreed super tuck for IWB, works great with a Shield45, I have a nylon hybrid IWB I use a lot when wearing shorts and a t-shirt, for OWB I have a paddle (quick but my least favorite), leather (I wear it with belt over the holster) favorite because it stays close and tight, and a nylon (I think Uncle Mikes) that is the same I use if I'm outside and it is hot

Before you buy another holster, analyze the holster that you have. One size does NOT fit all and you may need to make modifications to your holster to fit your particular needs.

I bought a Recluse pocket holster for my P365. But it wouldn't open up sufficiently to get a good grip on my P365. As received the holster was worthless to me. But after removing a number of stitches and replacing them with 5 new stitches that I moved downward about 1-5/8", the holster now opens up sufficiently for my XL size fingers to get a good grip on my P365. The holster went from worthless to great with only a small amount of effort.

The stock Sig holster that came with my P365 had a horrible trigger guard retention system and my P365 fell out of the holster twice. But I was able to add an external spring to the retention system and now it would be extremely difficult for a 5 year old to remove the pistol from my holster. But although now held firmly in place, I have no problems drawing the pistol from my holster.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Granted, not every holster is worth modifying. I have two holsters that I cannot find salvation for that are near worthless to me. But they were part of the learning process to figure out what would work for me, so they were not completely worthless as I learned something from trying to use them.

I use the Tulster for IWB. Very comfortable at the 0300 position and with the adjustable cant, it's easy to get a full grip when drawing. For OWB I use Upper Hand holsters. They hug tight to the body and ride high for concealability, also very comfortable. Good luck.

I carry a first gen Shield 40.
My holster is a Vedder Comfort Tuck.
I've had it 6 years.
Been great
I mentioned my Vedder earlier in this post. The kydex cracked a few weeks later after almost 7 years.
They replaced it after I called them.. no questions asked. Just sent it to them after they emailed me an RGA and a new one came a few weeks later. Great products and service. Made in the good ol' USA too.
