Shield vs. LC9s vs....

I bought mine for $369.00 out the door earlier this year. It is awesome. You cant go wrong with it. I have an SD9-VE, and wanted a weapon somewhat smaller for ccw. This is it. I have researched the heck out of small 9mm ccw guns. I chose the Shield because of size, reliability and the maker. Go Shield. You wont be disappointed. I shoot 115 for practice, and 124 HST for defense.

Of those two, the Shield by far. However if I wanted a single stack 9mm I'd just get a 1911 based one instead.
I like the Ruger. I feel like both of them need to be carried safety engaged and the Ruger safety is simply easier to activate. The Smith safety lever is a little small in my book But both our great guns, the Smith is a little beefier, but the Ruger is easier to conceal. Neither is a range gun.

I bought a LC9 for a small carry pistol. When the "s" came out, the bottom fell on the price for the regular LC9. I got one with 2 magazines for $240. Not a target pistol but I haven't seen any of the other small pistols measurably more accurate and everyone I talked to paid more for the other models. YMMV
Shoot them both. For a lot of guns that's not always an option. For these two it is. And don't go by "what feels best in your hand". Go by what you shoot more accurately and has the best follow up shots. God forbid you ever have to use it you won't say, "I can't shoot this gun well but boy does it fit!"
Love, Love, Love my shield. Dead solid perfect for over 2k rounds now. 15 yard plate shots are easy as pie, 20 and 25 yd gets a little tougher but only because I'm a crappy striker fired shot.
It's a little large and heavy, but the large part helps with the grip and making it really easy to be accurate with.
I'd love to see a metal framed one offered.

I go with a Kahr, based on my own experiences with both, although I had a 40 shield, not a 9. I would like to try a 9 again. But my PM9 works just fine in that role, as does my XDS. There are just so many small 9's now that even trying them all is a daunting task.
Between the Shield and the LC9s, I chose the Ruger... but what's best for me won't be the same cup or tea for everyone else.
I needed less weight due to back issues and the Shield didn't save me much over the double stack I had been carrying. I'll admit the Shield felt great in my hand, but it's still a 20 oz gun. Also, if I had to choose either gun with safeties, it would be the Ruger. The Shield's safety is too small and difficult to manipulate. If I bought the Shield, it would be sans safety.
I also prefer the LC9s trigger to the Shield trigger. Not by much... but some.
Again... YMMV.

Modern production Tokarev patern pistol made in Serbia. Extreme reliability, excellent handling, all with a low MSRP. Can't go wrong with it, and while rather long it is very thin and can be concealed very nicely. 9+1 capacity and 4.5" bbl for good ballistic properties. I own one, and for it's price point you simply can not go wrong. It is one of my favorite handguns:

Tough choice! I really want an LC9s, kind of unhappy about the safety though. I guess the Shield with no safety would be a good option but the Ruger trigger is much better. Right now I carry a Beretta Nano which I like very much, but a couple months ago I was at the LGS and laid a new Nano down next to a new LC9s. The Ruger was 20% thinner or so; I was surprised at the difference.
The Bersa BP9CC is another excellent option for a slim single stack. I liked mine but I let my sister try it one day and she liked it more.
If I could find one I think the Walther PPS might be a great option, too.

It appears to me, many folks here do not really know the difference between the Ruger LC9 and the LC9s. Appearance and caliber are about the only similarities.

I bought two Shield-9's and they're both awesome! Ergonomics, accuracy, function, and reliability PERFECT so far.
The Shield is way better than I ever expected a small(ish) pistol to be.
