I just came across the Shilen Rifles pages. Has anyone any experience with them? Seems a good deal. You could just get the Shilen barreled action, drop it in a stock and run a quality piece for about the kind of money people are putting into Savage builds.

I have a DGV and really like it. It is a Stiller Predator action that has a semi-floating bolt head and Savage barrel threads. I put it in a McMillan stock and added a Jewell trigger. Shoots great as a light gun with a Shilen barrel. I can change the barrel myself when it wears out, or I want a new caliber.

You might need to remove some material from a standard Remington 700 stock for the barrel nut. McMillan can make them with the relief for the nut.

i don't have much first hand experience with his rifles but if they are as good as his crawfish boil, you're good to go!
