How much does it cost to have 1000 9mm bullets shipped...ball park. I'm thinking about getting back in to reloading and the saveings margin is so thin with 9mm that shipping might just tip the scale.

Go to UPS.com They have a calculator for shipping costs from point A to point B given a certain weight and shipping method.
The USPS website might also have a similar function.
In general, I find it much cheaper to buy bullets locally unless I can buy in lots of 5000 or more.
For figuring weight, take (# of bullets* weight of bullet type in grains)/7000= weight of package in lbs.

Got to MidwayUSA.com and add some bullets to your shopping cart. In the shopping cart you can enter your zip code to get the shipping costs.

Live in the NE and buy 9mm, etc. in bulk {+ 10K per} from West Coast or Berry's.
Cabela's price on 9mm Berry's is almost as good and the more you buy from them the cheaper the shipping works out.

I just bought some cast 158-graain .357 bullets from Natchez Shooters Supply of Chattanooga, Tenn., and the shipping cost nearly as much as the bullets. Here's the breakdown:
38/357 158Gr SWC 500/Box $18.06
Freight and Insurance 10.28
Handling Charge! 3.90
TOTAL 32.24
I know I could have done better at a local dealer. Hindsight is better than . . .
What really chafes my thighs is that rotten Handling Charge. No where in the Natchez on-line ordering site does it mention such a thing. Had I known they would stick on that charge, I certainly would not have done business with them.
I realize some on-line stores charge a small fee for a less-than-minimum order. I can understand that, and would have made my order large enough to eliminate that charge had I known about it.
Natchez has some pretty good prices on their commodities, but that surprise handling charge has turned me off but good. Good thing my grocery store doesn't have a handling charge on a single-item purchase.

Get together with some buddies if you can't afford to buy 200 pounds or more of bullets. 200 pounds is where the BIG break is on shipping charges. You can pay $12-14 per 20 pounds for 1000 9mm 115's or you can pay $65 for 200 pounds. If you can't get a break on shipping 9mm will only save you a buck or two per box to reload, not enough to be worth it to most people.
Depends on what bullet you want, ROZE Distributing is the retail outlet for ZERO bullets, when you buy 500 or more you get free shipping, and their bullet prices are reasonable. As an example, 1,000 9mm 115 gr JHP bullets run $53.30 shipped, good price...fast service.

Also try Bear Creek - looks like $20.75/500 for their moly-coated bullets and free shipping over $70. Order 2000!

Besides saving 15% on my car insurance with Geico,
and staying in The Holiday Inn last night-
I bought a 1,000 count box of swagged L-BBSWC
bullets from Roze Distributors of Cullman, AL two weeks
ago; and the shipping and handling was FREE. I did
have to pay sales tax cuz I live inside the state. These
folks are distributors for ZERO BULLETS of Cullman, AL.
They have a web-site, but I don't have the link before me.
These days shipping costs have skyrocketed; especially
with USPS.
