From unlicensed individual to dealer. The only place that I know of that will do this is Fedex. Do you normally take a copy of the FFL license to the shipper? It doesn't say on their website that they require a copy of the license. I figure if you have the printout from the ATF site confirming their status as a licensed dealer and address, you should be fine. In other words, it sounds like it's your a$$ if you get caught shipping to an unlicensed dealer (across state lines). It sounds like it is not the carrier's responsibility to confirm that the address is an FFL, it's yours. They are just shipping where you tell them to ship. I think most people that sell a handgun online will require a copy of your dealer's FFL. Why isn't the dealer's license # sufficient enough since you can confirm their status and address via the ATF site?

You, as an individual, may ship to an FFL holder via fed ex or UPS. You are not required to disclose the package contents but you must ship next day air.

Put on the gloves. You are going to get 100 answers, and 99 will be wrong. CALL Fed Ex, or UPS, and ask them. Insure it, and put it in a shoe box size box. Less chance of 'getting lost.'

Well, that's possible, but I just had to ship a handgun to a ffl and was told the same. I placed the pistol in the box, attached the next day air UPS tag on it and sent it off. No questions asked and no information extended to them.

Actually, I wouldn't call FedEx or UPS... you'll still get 100 answers, and 99 will be wrong. I'd print off the regulations from their website and have them in-hand when you go to ship. Any employee can't give you the run-around with you when you have the policy with you.

FYI: you can ship using any common carrier: FedEx, UPS, DHL, Roadway Express, etc, etc. You just need to make sure that the common carrier you choose will ship handguns.
