Dammit, now you made me re-think my reply to this thread...I said I shoot every gun I own. You have a beautiful specimen there. I'm not sure if it were mine I would be able to shoot it.

It never been shot! probably 90 years in a box. So the dilemma! Keep looking at it or just shoot the dam thing

I don't have NEARLY enough money for safe queens, but I do have one or two that don't get shot very much. I took the BREN 2 out to the line two weeks ago, and I think that was the first time it had been out in well over a year.
non Classic Guns… I have a Norinco MAK90 that I bought at Auction for cheap ($550 at the time) It’s probably been sitting around since the 90’s with Tula Walmart Ammo. I’m going to shoot that bad boy soon!!!

I have a pretty rare Henry rifle that will likely stay a safe queen for life. A lot of work went into getting it made. But I do want to get an identical stock rifle like it as a shooter. Rest off my limited collection have been shot at some point by me.

NICE COMBO! Model 70 30-06 kills everything! 870 has a special place in my heart, Marlin 39a is EXPENSIVE, Who don’t love a Model 10!

WOW! I just checked GB for 39 A's. They are getting up there. My dad gave me mine when I was still in high school. He gave me the 39 Century LTD when I was in my 20's. Unless they factory fired them, it's never had a round thru it.

I also do not have a firearm that has not been shot! I do know a friend that bought some of them as an investment and never shot them. When he passed away they were sold away by his wife, with counseling as to the proper value. To me it is kind of sad that he never did enjoy shooting them. But that's just me!

My dad R.I.P always said a man 4 guns.

Winchester Model 70 in 30.06
Remington 870 12 gauge
Marlin 39A
S&W Model 10

I have a bunch of S&W 2.5" and 3" K Frames I've never shot.
Everyone should own a bolt gun in 30-06. Essentially a do-it-all rifle.

PS: I don't own one lol.

I'm surprised he would specify the Model 70 for a rifle, but then specity a Remington 870 over a Winchester Model 12 for a shotgun. I'd take a vintage Model 12 over any 870 any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I used to have S&W Model 10. Wish I still had it.

Need a 39 in my life!

FN FAL 50.63
Bought before the ban, that rifle was 900 new.
Unfired, to this day....proly worth 10 times that.
Pops had 3 of them, sold 2 before he passed.
Last was sold in estate.

I have no clue why he always liked the 70, may have been a rifle he used as a kid that his dad owned? It was and still is a great rifle.

I have a lot of S&W revolvers, and I can hit with this old 10 better than any adjustable sight Smith I own. It's really odd.

none of my business.. but You do have future plans for your collection?

A gun shop was telling me a story of a retired Army Colonel who brought all his collection in to be sold, he didn’t want his wife to worry about them if he passed away or got sick.
Perversely, I have the opposite view. My wife, who has zero interest in guns, will have to deal with them. Good! (I know she won't simply put them out on the curb because she likes the money too much. The value is the only aspect of my guns that she likes.)

Getting rid of my guns early (i.e., before death) would be like giving up on life. In fact if I sold my collections (and not just the guns) it would leave such a void that it would actually hasten death. Nothing further to look forward to. That's why I'll never go to a retirement home. No place to store all my stuff.

I know how you feel! You should hire or find volunteers to shoot your guns! That’s what I would do… also get them to clean it

I buy every gun with the intention of shooting it.
BUT…I do own a safe queen. Actually I wouldn’t call it a “queen”. It’s more of a Safe Wench. 😆
It’s a Davis derringer .38 Special.
You have to be careful when loading it. One of the firing pins stays fully protruded if the hammer is down on it. Not good. To load it I pull back the hammer, engage the safety then lower the hammer. If I left it loaded I just left the safety engaged.
I bought it over 25 years ago. I cannot tell when it was fired last. Perhaps 20 years ago.
I keep waiting for a gun buy-back to dump it.

That could probably be fixed. Had a similar issue with an Astra revolver that I worked on. The hammer was pushing the firing pin into the lined up chamber. And the thing was a 22 so it was a really small firing pin. If I hadn't of noticed, it would have been a surprise for the test fire! In that case the mainspring with compressed beyond repair so I put in a new one. Solved it.

Thanks. I truly don’t think it’s worth the time or trouble. I can’t even give this thing away.

You know, I’ve been lurking on this thread, and it occurred to me my benelli supernova, though nothing at all fancy, has been shot once… goes to show I ain’t really in the pheasant country I once was… lol.
Note to self: go shoot some clays!

I have never bought any gun for collecting purposes but always to shoot them and have no safe - queens. I have retired a few guns to the back of the safe, the Anschutz 1907 is a great shooter but I feel the weight when shooting it standing and after 20 rounds get wobbly.

The Anschutz 1533 in .222 Remington has not been to the range in a long time, either, and I forgot for what hunting purpose I had bought it.
