Shooting a .357

I like to fire hot rounds out of my 3 inch barrel GP100.

I also believe in the 5 -5 -5 - 5 rule of thumb: Can you fire five rounds in five seconds at five yards and keep the rounds within five inches of POA?

I can with my ported revovler...in which I am well pleased. I have experienced none of the detractors that so many have posted on here in previous threads regarding ported weapons whatsoever.

I'm over 60, and carry and shoot a 3" Ruger GP100 and use either Rem Golden Saber 357 or Federal Personal Defense 357. Both of those loads have just a little lighter recoil than some of the hotter 125 gr loads. 38+p is good also, anyway, shot placement is what is most important. Find a load you can shoot well with and carry that..

the .357 offers the most power in a gun manageable for most shooters... in a "full-sized" gun....that's where it made its rep....that's its advantage....heavy .45 Colt, standard .41 or .44 mag beat it handily, IF you choose a gun you can handle in those calibers....but pound for pound, the .357 is hard to beat....
