Hello all,

My father has been telling me about a guy he saw on The Bill Dance Show one time who was shooting aspirin, blue rock, and casted lures out of the air with a .22 rifle.

I would really like to see this video but I haven't had any luck finding it. The only information I have found as of yet is that it is/was a/the host of Shotgun Journal on the Outdoor Channel.

Has anyone else seen this episode of Bill Dance and know where I could find it? I don't care about the whole show, just the shooting part.

Thanks for the help!

I've seen video clips of Tom Knapp doing it. A Google search should turn up some videos. Definitely worth watching.

I have only see Tom Knapp do it. There is also an archery guy who shoots aspirins with a bow.

Don't forget Winchester's shooter, Herb Parsons. He was probably the best all around rifle and shotgun shooter of all time. He did things with a rifle that most folks can't even imagine. I was lucky enough to see one of his videos some years ago and I was amazed.

from what I hear... there is a trick to it of wetting one side of the aspirin by licking your thumb and pressing it to one side... then, supposedly, even if you miss by a few inches either way, the aspirin will burst...

still pretty cool though.... and on that show... he was shooting out of a boat.

You need to watch the Outdoor Channel. They have stuff like this on from time to time.

I need cable to watch the Outdoor Channel.

I need a higher income and a lower level of frugality to buy cable.

I need more time on my hands to make cable worth the money I'd pay for it.

there was a show, Sharpshooters i think, where i saw tom knapp shooting all kinds of stuff along with some other exhibition shooters, except they used slowmotion cams and actually caught the 22lr bullet hitting the aspirin in the air.

I saw that show also but Tom was using a Bruno .22 Mag. for his trick shots instead of a .22 LR. I have often wondered why that was his choice? Couldn't argue with the results!

Tom Knapp on the Bill Dance show. He was shooting from the boat. He started by challenging Bill to hit a stump with his lure, then shot the lure in flight.
He uses the 22 mag because the higher velocity will make the bullets come apart (desintigrate) easier.

I haven't seen the Bill Dance one, but 'Sharpshooters' on the History Channel shows a slo-mo video of Tom Knapp nailing an aspirin mid-air with a .22. They replay it occasionally, usually on Saturday mornings.

The outdoor channel showed Tom Knapp, Bob Mundon & Herb Parsons shooting aspirin on "Impossible Shots". They also featured Byron Ferguson doing the same with a bow. The show airs on wednesdays on TOC. Really great line up of shows on wednesdays, all centered on shooting, personal protection, etc. I enjoy TOC's programs. Gotta love the DVR aspect, I can watch the shows I missed when I have time.:D

As others have said, it was Tom Knapp on the Bill Dance show. It was the single best fishing show that I've ever seen. (As much as I like to fish, I just can't get into watching it on tv. Offshore fishing is another matter though.)

Thanks for the replies. I watched the video of Clint Foster shooting on youtube, he's quite good.

I haven't managed for find the clip from Bill Dance yet, but at least I know who it was now.

I figure if I practice ten hours a day, every day, for about 300 years, I might be half as good of shot.... but that's unlikely. :)

Thanks again for all the information.

A Friend of my father's used to do "trick shots" for the kids... He would put a wad of paper in the center of a washer, throw the washer in the air, and shoot the paper out of the middle.

I didn't find out until later that his 22 had snake shot in it :p It was "cheating" in my book, but cool none the less.

Go to your local gunshop and get a copy of the Benelli USA catalog on CD. Side 2 has 11-12 episodes of Tom Knapp and Tim Bradley trick shooting with shotguns, pistols and rifles. Fun to watch.

Hokkmike, Chris Brackett from "Arrow Affliction" has done that before.

If you guys haven't seen it yet, Arrow Affliction airs on The Sportsman Channel and is absolutely ridiculous.
