First Strike in Newbury is a nice indoor range. It's owned by the same folks that own Sherwin in Willowick. It opened a little over a year ago and is nice and clean.

Ron, agree concerning Stonewall not a very good place anymore. During the off season (winter) I head over to the new place in Berea called Select Fire. Nice clean safe place to shoot. Close to the Xmas season they offer a 3 month membership for only $99. Good deal compared to there $19 hour charge.

Seems like a lot of new people seeking out places to shoot the last couple of years. Must be all the new folks our president is getting into buying guns!
I was at Select Fire on Sunday. I liked it very much, range and people. My only reservation was six stalls. While it was quiet Sunday I do not see six stalls going very far on a busy day?

Last year when Stonewall did an abrupt shutdown for repairs (rumor control said lead issues) they closed the place for 6 months or more of my annual membership which I paid $350 for. No refund on membership fees so I paid for a closed range. The quality of shooters there has also declined with people doing strange things on the firing line. I just see an accident waiting to happen. No range master on duty either.

Made a trip out to the Grand River Range in Trumbell County (just east of Cleveland). Hope to see a few of you local guys out there soon. Nice place to spend a morning.

I'll be there in 2 weeks with a couple friends and some rifles itching to shoot. If you see clueless 6'4" blonde lanky guy looking confused, that'll be me.

If you just need to do some zeroing, you can try A&A Shooting Range near Nelson Ledges.

The last time I went there (in the '90s), it was VERY rudimentary, basically just a muddy field, other than the shotgun ranges. It reminded me of Knob Creek during the '80s, before the machine gun shoots started getting big.

You'll probably have to bring all your own target gear, including stands/frames.

Your other option is Kelbly's down near Orrville. It's been so long since I was down there, I don't know what your options are as a non-member. It's where the SERIOUS benchrest shooters go.

They've been bad news for a long time.

I haven't shot there for a good ten years. My last time was my LAST time, since I had guns pointed at me TWICE in fifteen minutes. The second time was three guys yelling at each other in Serbo-Croatian while wrestling over a loaded Remington 870. If they couldn't see THAT, it's no place I want to be. Combine that with the counter help's neer-do-well friends hanging out doing their Andrew Dice Clay impressions, and it's a write-off for me.

They did used to have a good selection of holsters, however. Since I learned to make my own holsters, even that's no longer an attraction.

For you local guys in Cleveland, I will be heading out to Grand River Range at 9:00am tomorrow morning. Hope to see some of you out there! The guys at the gate can point me out, just ask were "Phil" is shooting.

Unfortunately, something came up last minute. I won't be able to make it. Sorry to leave you hanging, Valnar. Hopefully PhilMc can give you a hand if needed.

I'd tell you what happened, but THR isn't a soap opera. Let's just say some people (like managers and such) should walk in front of buses.

We did pretty good. I couldn't dial-in a Marlin 336 I have with Skinner sites because I'm not sure how to adjust it. I think I need to file down the front sight. The rest were fairly accurate, but without a proper bench setup, it was only close.

We'll be back! Perhaps this summer. It was fun.
