My brother has an Armscor MAP1 9mm pistol. This is basically a Witness/CZ clone sort of thing.

It shoots about 8-9 inches low at 10 yards. The front sight is cast as part of the slide so it's not easily replaceable. He's willing to try filing it a bit, so how much would we need to remove from the front sight to bring the point of impact up to the point of aim?

NB: yes, we know it's the gun. We've tried several different kinds of ammo; it shoots like that for both of us; and neither of us has this issue with our other pistols.

Thanks in advance.

That would depend on how tall the front sight was.
Take some white out and paint the top half of the front sight.
Using the new lower sight(below the white) see how it shoots, and that may tell you how much needs to be removed.
You can repaint at different locations and that will tell you before you file any off.

Bring the front sight up higher in the notch or take a file to it. Where does it hit at 25yds, much more important than point shoot range of 7 to 10?
