I just got back from the range where i ran two boxes of Blazer Brass from my new .45.I was suprized by the recoil-kick of my pistol. It was the first time that i ever shot any .45 pistol. It was a sobering experence. Now,i fully understand, and agree, that even with 230 gn.FMJ Hardball, you CAN knock-down a person very, very easily, and quickly !
My first 8 shots were at 25 yds. and i shot three in the red,and the rest all in the next 10 ring.A stranger behind me was very impressed with my grouping, being my very first time.I let him run an 8 shot mag. from my gun.He said that he wasn't a Sig fan,but instead a 1911 fan. Then he let me shoot his Kimber Tactical. It was sweet, easy trigger action. And i scored mostly Red shots.
I then moved my next target sheet to 50 yds.. All my shots were to the left of the red, some on white, some on black.I had a very hard time hitting the red,but then again,it was my first time-out shooting any .45 pistol !
I will go back next Sunday, and try the 50 yd. target again.
Anyway,i love my new P220,it has real knock-down power, and one cannot EVEN begin to compare a 9MM,or a .40 cal. to the POWER of a 230 gn. .45 cal.!
It's just night and day, apples and oranges.
I shot all my rounds with a two-handed Weaver Stance.
Next week i will one-hand it !
I am the Sig dude.
