Scared yet?

i know you read the title, and want to immediatly respond.... but hear me out first. then scold me. ;)

as stated in a previous thread, my model 94 in 30-30 is missing 3 screws. turns out, these are the Finger lever pin stop screw and 2 screw for holes for mounting a receiver sight.

the 2 small screws for the receiver sight, i see were it serves no other purpose.
the larger is to allow access to the pin in the lever. i see nothing else it does.

any reason i am missing that would make this dangerous to shoot without those screws? i figure i would keep an eye on the pin to make sure its not working loose.

I ordered the screws Wednesday night, they told me it would ship Thursday.. giving a fighting change for Saturday delivery. but they didn't ship until early this morning and ETA is now Tuesday, i'm suppose to go shooting Monday and wanted to take this rifle and go through a few rounds to sight it in and have fun now that i finally found my preferred ammo again.

also, i have a screw for the larger hole thats too long (its for the scope mount) i cant really re use it for the mount anyway, when i purchased the gun it was stripped, so i had to extract it, but i could try to shorten it and screw it in finger tight....... if its needed.

The only issue you MIGHT have is if the pin thru the bolt works loose. If so it'd jam the action. Otherwise there is no issue. Some pins are quite tight, some not so. That said, I'd still wait for the proper screw to arrive.

If the the longer screw for the pin is the correct thread, put it in. It won't impede anything that pertains to shooting the rifle. Just look funny.

Unless it's long enough to hit the bolt in that case tightning it will lock the bolt.

yes, thats why i would need to shorted it, its only partially threaded. it will stop the bolt, or rub the bolt. i might can thread it partially in. but vibrations may or may not make it move... sanding it down some would probably be better.
