I'll be visiting Baltimore in a few days and wonder if anyone has any recommendations of good gun shops to visit near the centre. I won't be able to purchase any firearms or ammunition (transporting either home would be rather problematic) but could pick up accessories such as holsters &c.

I see that there's already a thread of this topic but it was a few years ago so I thought I'd ask again in case things have changed:

Do you mean "near the centre of the city?" If so, I am not really aware of any. There are some in the suburbs, can you advise what area you will be in or if you will have a car?

I'll be in Timonium, but as far as I am aware it has good public transport connections with the various attractions (e.g. historic ships) in the centre. I won't have a car but might be able to get a lift somewhere.

I work very near Timonium. There is a nice range and shop, Continental Arms, on Deereco Rd, just S of Padonia Rd. They have both rentals and sales. It's right next to the Holiday Inn, and near the Extended Stay Hotel. Are you interested in using the range? If so, you may wish to contact them to be sure your ID will be acceptable. http://continentalarms.com/ One of my favorites is Barts, which is in Glen Burnie, about 25 miles away. Perhaps we can get together, and you can ride down with me if you are interested.

That is excellent - I had no idea there was a shop and range right next to the hotel in which I'll be staying (for an event here)!

I'd be very interested in using the range. However, as a UK handgun shooter (there are still some of us left) it seems I won't have any ID which they consider acceptable. Thanks to the generous assistance of an American friend I was able to obtain a US basic firearm safety certificate in Massachusetts in 2013, but I doubt that that will suffice either.

Anyway, at least it should be nice to take a look and pick up a few souvenirs.

I would check out Contintental as that is right in the area. Ive been there a number of times and its a intresting place to get hands on experience with something you might be intrested in purchasing. I personally would also highly recommend Freestate as well. Its my personal favorite in the area.
Continental may be picky about what they accept in terms of ID (or so Ive read) but Freestate seems to be a bit more understanding with their ID requirements and have noticed a number of forigners shooting there/renting equipment, and it didnt seem to be a problem, but what do I know. I would give them a call as well. They are located in Middleriver. http://freestategunrange.com.

When are you planning to be in town? I was planning on heading to Contintental in the next few days, would be funny if you happened to be there at the same time:p

I have been in touch with Continental and it looks like I may get a chance to shoot there. Perhaps I might drop in on the Monday morning, once other business is out of the way.

That other place looks good as well, and depending on how things go I might see if I can give them a call. Unfortunately time and money are both in short supply on this trip so I probably can't do both. But, even 50-100 rounds is better than no shooting at all!
