Is there any cartridge that is based on the 308 length action that uses 270 sized bullets?

I know of the 284, 7mm-08 but i really like the idea of a 270 sized bullet even if it isnt as fast as the true 270

I asked this same question previously, the only one mentioned is the 270WSM. I am not interested in the short and fat cartridges that might become unavailable. I agree that a 270-08 would help my reloading since I reload for the 270 Winchester already.

260 will put you real close; I read a story about a rifle , about 6 months ago, that did use 270 carts, but the action was a bit shorter than normal, still a hair longer than a true short action... Oh yeah, dont' forget a 6.5 swede, made by cz.
Or is it this? you want to use real 270 carts, in a short action rifle? Cuz I don't think I have ever heard of that animal. You could always do a 6.8 spc, I am sure a couple of rifle makers our there chamber for it.

i know about the 6.8remington SPC but that round gives up the bullet weights that make the 270 able to handle larger animals

im out for something that would compare to the 270 in the same way that the 308 compares to the 06. give up 100-200fps for a given bullet weight

The only thing I know of that is tried and proven but not exactly what you want in a 7mm-08 other wise its custom barrels and custom dies for you. not a bad plan for a wildcat round though

It's been done for decades. Just called a 270/308. The brass would be easy to make. I don't see how you could justify the cost of the barrel unless you just really, really wanted one. Ackley shows a 130 grain bullet at 3136 FPS. But,I'd rather see it than hear tell of it.

Zerojunk, is there any factory ammo for the 270/308?

i dont have the space available to hand load right now

The 6.8 might be feasible, ECH. The 130gr .277 bullet has been used successfully on all manner of North American game including moose (and the bears). Don't listen to the .30-caliber codgers who think they are too macho for the .270 and its' 130-grainers.

skinewmexico, id like to keep it short action because i like the idea of cartridges that are based on the 308 either necked up or down.
That way once i have space to handload i can neck the same cases up or down to whatever i happen to be loading that day.

current rifles are 308, and 243 with plans for a 338federal and hopefully this short action 270 or a 7mm08 if that doesnt work
