Short Barreled Rifles. What would you do?

p90 gains nothing from the 16" barrel since the round was designed to peak out of the full auto smg version, so if you have a carbine id definitly SBR it over an ar 15, ak 47, or any other firearm you might think of

I don't know. Maybe an AR15 or two. One in 5.56 and one in 9mm......
Oh wait.....I already did...:p

rjrivero: winner. You are proud of your SBRs. I cant blame you for showing them off. I really like your 9mm, everytime i see it. lol. keep it up.

My choice would be AR 9mm. Cheap ammo, less muzzle flash at night than a .223, less deaf if shot indoors,

I SBR'd a regular AR15 and a dedicated 9mm AR15. I also have an SBS'd Remington 870 12ga.

Next on my list is a stamp for one of my 15-22s.

Haven't made up my mind. If I do an sbr it will be in a pistol caliber or the 5.7X28. I'll probably also do an integril suppressor at the same time. I have a .45 and 9mm upper already. While 5.56 sbrs are easy you waste so much of the energy in muzzle blast.

The other two directions I plan on going, finances permitting is to shoulderstock a 1911 and sbs and O/U shotgun.

Cheers,

ts

I don't personally find the appeal. All of the super short shotguns I've seen have been far worse to shoot than a non-sbs version. I'm not room clearing so having a 10" barreled AR doesn't make a bit of difference from a 16" version. The only rifles that it makes any sense on would be something that was originally say a submachine gun but was the produced without the MG parts and with a longer barrel. Something like the Uzi's or MP5 clones that all look funky because the barrel is far longer than the image we have all come to learn and know. At that point it's strictly for aesthetics. Beyond looks I couldn't justify it.

Not into modern military style rifles. I think a 12" Model 92 Winchester would be way cool. I have seen original "Trapper Models" in 14" and 13" versions but never the 12" model which I hear was the shortest they offered and is the hardest to find. A modern repro 12" M92 in 357 Magnum would be fun.

I like my AR in 5.56...definitely an attention getter at the range...

I have been giving serious thought to giving my MPA-71 9mm a chop...with the 72 round Suomi drums it is fun all day long!

If you could convert any of your rifles or shotguns into an SBR, Which one would it be?
Seriously, I'd opt to SBR my T/C Encore rifle so I could put a folding stock on it and any of my pistol barrels. Yeah, it's a single shot, but it would be a great, easy packing carbine.

A 1-10" twist, 12.5" (Light Palma) Kreiger barreled Winchester 70 in .308 + Manners T + USO 1-4x24mm + T.A.B. sling + BUIS + stock pack = Shorty Perfection!!!!!

I would shorten my single shot NEF Handi rifle in .357 to about 12". With no action length, it would be tiny. (Don't own a semi auto)

#1 would be chopping the PS90 down to P90 length.
#2 would be giving in to temptation and chopping down the Bushmaster M17 that's sitting in the closet. Why? Just for the fun of it and I think the short piston wouldn't react badly to it.
Probably make it something like this:

I'd also SBR a P90.

Allthough I'm keeping my PS90 at 16" for the time being. I really don't need it any shorter, and the extra velocity is nice. It's allready shorter than a 14.5" AR and much lighter. I suppose if I had the need for a MP5 type rifle I'd SBR it.

I guess probably my .410 "snake charmer." The short little plastic stock is basically worthless on it anyway, other than for holding shells. Every time I shoot it I just hold it out at arms length anyway. Might as well cut off the stock and chop the barrel down a little too. Then it would make something nice and handy to keep next to the car seat with some #4 buck in it. It looks like this:

What would I do? I want a lever action in .357 that is cut just long enough so that I can still fit six rounds in the magazine. That would be a might handy stick.

Like the 556 above.

I would like to SBR a:

Daewoo DR-200
Beretta CX4 Storm
FN PS90
