I'm looking for a shorter length of pull butt stock for a 12 gauge pump. The girlfriend is 5' 3" and can't easily handle the full size gun. Collapsible or folding stocks are out because we live in Michigan and the gun would have to be registered as a pistol. I would appreciate any leads. Thanks.

I put a Hogue 12 LOP stock on my 870 and I love it, much easier to mount and much comfortable than the factory stock. I'm 5'7"

I believe Speedfeed IV-s is even 1" shorter at 11" LOP. It is a pistal grip stock type and should even be more comfy to shoot.

4/2/09 CORRECTION: Speedfeed IV-s is spec at 13", actully. My bad. Sorry.

Happy shopping.

Get the saw out and cut it down a couple inches.

It wouldn't be too hard to make a parallel cut, and all you would need to do is drill a couple pilot holes for the screws. The recoil pad may be a little bigger than the stock but that's not a big issue.

There are 2 shotguns, a Maverick 88 and a NEF partner, which is supposed to be a knock off of a Remington 870. They both have synthetic stocks so sawing the wood probably won't work. Would youth model shotgun butts fit the full size frames?

The Outers Cadet stock is relatively inexpensive. Can also get the Speedfeed "Entry" or "Youth" length... forget what they call it. You can also try Ebay or Gunbroker. Usually people selling their old shotgun stocks when the kids get big enough. The Mossberg 500 and 590 stocks fit the Maverick. The Remington 870 stock fits the NEF Pardner Pump. Good hunting.

if you get an adjustable stock, set it at the length that you need for your girlfriend and then put a pin in it so that it is no longer adjustable it is now a fixed stock with a pistol grip. (double check michigan law)
