I’ve been loading 12 gauge target/dove hunting loads for awhile. My recipe is 1 1/8oz. #8 shot in a Claybuster CB1118-12 wad over 19 grains of Winchester WST. For primers, I use Winchester W209’s. I was given 1000 - CCI 209M magnum primers. Can these be used with my recipe? If so, any adjustments needed?

Shotgun recipes are very touchy. Every component should be the same or the recipe might not be safe. I suggest you write Winchester and ask them though they may not give you advice about CCI primers.

You will probably have to use less powder because you are going from a standard primer to a Magnum primer but how much I can't even guess.

You don't mention whick hull your using. The only time I'll substitute a hot primer for any load is in the winter when a hotter primer helps with low pressure loads. I wouldn't use a magnum primer with 1 1\8oz. loads at anytime.
I found 2 identical loads with Titewad powder in 1 1\8 target loads. 1 used a Win primer and the other used a Fed primer.{hotter primer}
It generates 1,800psi more chamber pressure just changing to a hot primmer. The magnum primers are generally used with slower burning powders with heavy field loads.

If you want to use the CCI 209M primers, find a recipe that uses Fed 209 primers and use them that way. Your load is already over 10,000 psi now I'm figuring. Don't use those primers with your recipe.

The only primer I know of that can be used interchangeably with Win 209s are the Nobelsport primers. CCI magnum primers will typically require a change to your recipe
