I'm doing some shotgun reloading, using 1 and 11/8oz of 8's over a Winchester WAA12 white wad and between 18.5 and 21.5 gr of Alliant Green dot powder (depending on load size).

The Alliant website lists 209M's as the primer to use, but according to CCI's site the 209M's are for heavy waterfowl type loads which these are not, do you think it would be okay to use the plain 209's that I have since CCI lists them for target shooting loads, which is what I'm building up?

Most shotshell reloading is based around the plain old "209" primers. I stick with Winchester so am not too familiar with CCI, other than they're known as being one of the hotter shotshell primers.

Call the powder company and question their site. I'd bet the site is wrong. Most of the loads I see in my books are based around the CCI 209 primer.
