I have a 1970's Winchester 1200 with a fixed Mod choke - hardly used, so it's in good working condition. My boys want to "fix 'er up" for hunting deer - they want to add a picatinny rail to the top of the receiver for installing a red dot and then refinish the wood with camo paint, etc.
The gun isn't worth much, so I'm OK with the idea. However, I'm curious to know if it's possible for a gunsmith to drill/tap the top of the receiver for installing a rail?? I saw one side-mount rail, but I just want a simple rail screwed down tight...
Anyone have any idea if this is possible?
