I just sold my AK, which had a Primary Arms MD-07 fixed base micro red dot sight on it, which i really like. (I sold the AK without the red dot, so I still have it). I have one of these on my Ruger Mark III Hunter pistol as well. Great deal for the $$. Anyway, I'm thinking that I'd like to try installing this onto my Mossberg 535 pump shotgun. I'm not home to double-check, but I understand the receivers on all of the 535's are drilled and tapped. So my thought is, all I need is to mount a rail on the reciever and install the red dot. Correct?

Here's what I believe to be the correct rail for my (1 year old) Mossberg 535:

What are your opinions on this configuration? Does it work out well? Is this the best (and proper) mount for my Mossberg?

Opinions and suggestions welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Warner

That's definitely the best style mount for the money. That should be all you need other than some blue loctite to keep it all together.

Thanks....and yeah, I figured some blue loctite was going to join the equation. :) Do you have experience with a micro red dot on a shotgun? The general consensus from what I've found is that they are good for hunting relatively stationary animals, but most don't like them for shooting clays....

Thanks for the reply,

Mounting a red dot on a shotgun and shooting buckshot and slugs will let you know quick the difference between a quality red dot and mount and non-quality, in that the non-quality will usually prematurely leave the gun :).

I like a bead myself.
