I am interested in trying 12ga o/u shotguns for skeet and clays before I buy. Looking at Beretta, Browning, Franchi. I shoot a Remington 1100 now.

I don’t know of any range in upstate NY that rents shotguns for day rentalsto try.

Is there any place in the U.S. that does rentals for a month to non-local people?

Thnx.

Regards/Stephen

I've never heard of it.

Renting a gun to take off the property would set off several Alarm Bells at the ATF.

And result in the renter losing his FFL, his business, plus going to the grey bar motel and rooming with Jamal or Bubba for a while.

That kind of deal is against Federal law in the USA as far as I know.

I dont know of any.....

Surely you can find a stop that will let you mount and swing to your hearts content?
The Beretta v Browning argument should be pretty apparent to which you prefer just doing the above as they handle very differently. Dont know anything about Franchi's though.

Yes you can "Rent" but the cost is very high. Just buy the gun, try it out, if you don't like it trade it in against a different gun.

Of course the rental fee is the difference between purchase new and trading in used.

There are many shooters that "Rent" many guns that way. The cost is rather high though.

If I rent or loan any firearm to a non-licensed individual that will be taken off my premises the law requires that a Form 4473 be filled out, the background check run, and all federal and state laws pertaining to firearm transfer be met (in Illinois, that would add the 24 hour waiting period before a shotgun could be transferred).

A shotgun rental can legally be done. While I personally know of no place that does it, I imagine they are out there.

I know that Coyote Valley Sporting Clays in San Jose CA lets you rent a wide selection of shotguns for the day. Worth it in my opinion to help you select.

Nice to know I could rent if I were near San Jose. But I’m 3,000 miles away.

Perhaps someone knows of a place in central New York state . . . or at least upstate.

Go to the fade book page of the manufacturer of the make you are looking at. They can get a loaner to a shop that will let you try them with a deposit. Best way also to get best wood.Good luck.
