I want to start reloading my own shot shells. Both 12 and 20 gauge. I like the MEC 9000 but I can't tell if the 9000 will do both gauges. I can't afford to buy two presses. Any advise on which progressive presses (brands) will do both gauges for the best price. I would assume (but don't know) that some parts would be switched to go back and forth between gauges. Thanks for the help for a new member and sorry if this subject has been posted already.

If it will do both (and it likely will ... I just don't know for sure) you WILL have to change out a lot of hardware to switch from 12 to 20 and versa visa.

It -can- be done ... but if it is anything like a 600jr it will be a real pain in the a$$. (Plus, the extra hardware you will have to buy will likely buy you another non-progressive loader outright)

If you can't afford two 9000, hows about two 600 series instead? Not progressive, but once you get the hang of it you can move along pretty quick!

Or, one 9000 for what you do the most of, and a good used 600 series for the other?

PS ... Just looked on the MEC site, and you are out of luck. the 9000 series does one size and one size only:
