Shotgun you had, and wish you still did...

Pop's old 12 gauge O/U, but not nearly as much as I'd like HIM back.

My Lupara, but I'm happy my cousin has a good, reliable shotgun with a family history.

A certain French/Belgian boxlock with nice wood, very nice acorn and oak leaf engraving that found birds all by itself and put them in the back of my vest.

And TUSIHC, just because.

And I wouldn't want my 870TB back, because then a friend wouldn't have a shotgun he loves and shoots well.

Remington 1100 My father gave me...had to sell it to survive and keep my family fed during hard times...I could afford a new one now...but I wish I had that one back.

Not sure it counts because I never technically HAD them, but I'd love to have my grandfather's old shotguns. Grandma sold 'em after he died. Never wished harder that I'd had $500. That's what she got for them, an Auto-5 and a beautiful old .410 SxS.

Oooh, that still rankles:banghead:

Browning Sweet 16, sold it to pay for getting rid of my ex-wife. I sure miss it, but some sacrifices are worth it.

Well, there would be two in my case.

First, the 20 gauge single shot that was my very first gun, a Christmas present from my folks when I was a tad. It was stolen out of my dad's pickup at the little country store he ran, while dad was using it as a 'truck gun' after I had gotten a 12 gauge 311 double.

Second, the High Standard Model 10A that I let someone wheedle, bug, bother and bribe me into selling. It was the only one I've ever seen for sale in person anywhere anytime and I've been kicking myself for selling it ever since.

And there is one I never owned that I wish I did- my grandfather's old Remington double hammer gun. It burned up in 1974 with almost everything my grandparents owned when their house was struck by lightning. They were lucky to have escaped the fire themselves.

Mostly it would be really nice if I could have the chance to introduce two new generations of my cousins to a couple of the finest people I ever had the privilege of knowing- my paternal grandparents. I wish those kids could grow up under their care the way I did.

Worst gun sell off of my life. When I had my FFL about 12 years ago, I bought one of the Parker Repros, 28 ga. DHE. I think I paid $1,600 for it. Had it for 4-5 years and never shot it. Traded it for some pistols and now they sell for around $4,000. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

I hated the first two shotguns I ever owned, sold them long ago, and good riddance. I still own the first shotgun I ever had that suited me and I shot well, and I have my dad's first (and only) shotgun. No regrets over any others I've sold.

Remington 870 Police #4903

I sold it to finish off my wife's AR-15. It retrospect she did get more into guns when she had her own AR, but I still miss my 870P. The bad thing is the same model now sells for almost $120 more 2 years later.

None. I still have the 1100 my dad gave me, the belgian A-5 my dad's dad gave me, and the sweet 16 my mom's dad gave me. And God willing, I'll have them long enough to give them to my kids and grandkids. Except for my 1100. That's going in the will.

I had a NIB SPAS-12 with the fold-over stock that I only paid $400. I didn't shoot it much (it weighed a ton, at least to me) and loaned it to my brother during the AWB. I told him I was looking for a Mini-14 and when I came home on leave found out he had traded it for a used and abused Mini-14. Not even a Ranch model! The strange thing was a fellow soldier kept hounding me to sell it to him and one day a said he could have it for $1000. He gave me a grand that afternoon.:)

The remington 1100 I worked all summer for to pay it out of Lay-away at the local gun shop in 1972 at the ripe old age of 16. I sold it to buy a used browning gold that turned out to be a piece of junk.

None. Shotguns get sold so I can buy better shotguns.

The only gun I've owned that I'd want back is a 20 gauge Remington 870 Skeet, a late 70's gun that is in excellent condition, smooth as glass with a fabulous piece of wood.

The reason that I don't have it is because I bought on behalf of a friend who always wanted one. He's one of the most decent men I've met. Despite some serious health problems he is always upbeat and a pleasure to be around.

When I found one I bought it. I wasn't expecting much for $400 but when it arrived my jaw dropped. There was barely a mark on it. Either way this would work out for me. I'd be happy to keep it if my friend didn't want it but he did and I sold it to him for what I had in it.

He loves that gun. I'd rather he have it than me. I did however secure right of first refusal if he decides to sell it.

I have every shotgun I ever owned, except my granddad's old 12 gauge single barrel. I gave that to my oldest son. He was named for my grandfather and I'd just as soon he had that gun.

I wish I'd bought a couple more Winchester Model 12s. I ran across a 12 gauge one that was cut down to "riot" size. Price wasn't bad but I was in the midst of a .41 Magnum binge at the time. Just missed a fancied up 20 gauge Browning repro of the 12 too. I was just a day, or two, from putting some money down on it.

Field grade LC Smith 12 ga. Retired it when the lead ban started, traded it off a few years later.

I did OK on the trade, just wish I had Elsie back. :(
Pop's old 12 gauge O/U, but not nearly as much as I'd like HIM back.
Same here, Dave. Dad had a Remington Model 10 Trap Grade I always coveted. It's mine now. I'd throw it in the river for one more chance to sit and talk to him.

Amen, Larry. People are what count, shotguns just adjuncts.

To this day, I can hardly pick up most guns without thinking of my parents. Mom with her 22s, Pop with shotguns, centerfires and handguns.

Forlorn Hope Time Again....

Pop's O/U was stolen at a field trial in the early 70s. Probably a Savage, it had bronze metal in the forearm at the hinge and a pin punched 14 in the bottom of the receiver.

If anyone knows the location of this, I want it back, will pay, no questions asked.
