Im at a friends house in town and about 5 min ago 4 gun shots were fired VERY close. I just called 911 they are pulling up now. Update when i get a chance.
My CCW is close at hand as always.

Within 5 minutes of "very close" gun shots, I always run to the internet to tell everyone about it. Obviously, the threat has passed. :rolleyes:

Instead of typing on your laptop you'd be better off taping it to your chest. Like that ninja guy used to do with the ceramic plates.
 
If you were that worried you wouldn't be posting about it here. You'd be keeping a close eye on things around the house.

Whats wrong with you guys? Hes sitting in a house with protection nearby after hearing gunshots close enough to worry him. What more do you want him to do besides call 911? Sheesh, get a grip.

Let's give him a few minutes. First he has to slice the pie, then he has to eat the pie. He might be waiting on coffee before he gets going.

And who knows? He might be text-messaging Assad Ayoob.

Probably some little old lady firing up her '63 station wagon with the genuine imitation wood panel siding for the once a week outing to church.
 
He might have meant to be asking what else to do and didn't type it in the excitement.

hardhit777 - if you read this and this is legit, get off the computer, go find a safe place in the house with preferably no windows and plenty of walls in between it and the windows and get everybody there together and safe, keep your CCW piece handy, but always remember safety - there's no sense in having an accident in the stress of the moment. Wait for the police to arrive.

I hear shots once in a while but because I can't pinpoint where they are I don't call it in.
I would have liked to have heard what happened to the OP, if there were shots right outside my window I might send a quick message to thr as well....
 
A few months back, on a hot summer day (windows were closed, AC was running, and I suffer from "hearing loss 'cuz I was STUPID when I was younger"), my boss called and told me there was a shooting a block away . . . "Are you alright?' My response, "Yes & I'm armed." One never knows, in this day and age (I did bring the dog in, since I was aware & didn't want to put that fine critter in harm's way). I DID load-up a shottie, just in case . . .
 
Are your ears ringing? If not, then it wasn't all that close.

Don't count on it.

We had an exchange (I think it was an exchange, I heard what sounded like two different kinds of rounds fired, 8 of "bang" and 2 of "boom") nearby a couple months ago, while we were in bed. Called the cops.

Turned out it was in the street right next door. I'd call that plenty close. Nothing to see, the participants were long gone. And through our walls it wasn't particularly loud.

(It's not that bad a neighborhood, as such things go, but the neighbor's daughters don't tend to make that good of choices in boyfriends.)

lol, I dont think I even notice gun shots in my "hood" these days.

If im not being personally targeted or the rounds arent coming threw my walls its roll back over and go back to sleep.

Though one time a car pulled into the driveway, loosed 6 fast rounds{prolly a wheel gun} turned around and peeled out. It gave me the urge to let off some ammo out of my mini-14 and let em know whos really in charge:cool: .

The things you can get used too..........

It would have been better to post after you had something to tell us, but hey.
 
Well i was just starting to type out a post when the shots rang out. The first thing i did was lock the doors while dialing 911. I typed my earlier post out while waiting for the police. The shots came from a block over apparently. it would seem that some genius got a new pistol and wanted to try it out inside city limits and with in 200 yards of a high school. Other than myself, one of my friends neighbors called it in too. The police showed up and walked to his front yard where he was standing. I walked out to the officers and told them that the shots had come from the east.The neighbor knew where exactly so i went back to the house since i couldn't be of anymore assistance. Two of the police pulled off headed 1 block over. The other stayed there with the neighbor. After they left the neighbor came over and told us what had happened. I live in a small town and you really don't hear gun shots that often in town. Especially not on this side of town.
