Last week, I went to Wal-Mart and purchased a Weatherby Vanguard, I asked for it in .300 win mag, but they gave me .300 wby mag. The only reason I forgot to look at the caliber at the store is it took soooo long because the guy that sold me the gun had never sold one before and I was there a little over 2hrs. So, because it's not really my fault that they sold me the wrong gun, shouldn't I be able to get a free box of .300 wby ammo or AT LEAST a discount?
Say if this has happened to you also.

Why would you ask here and not at Wal-Mart?

I suspect that, given Wal-Mart's ample postings about the non-returnability of firearms, you are Surely Out of Luck regards the possibility of correcting the error. If polled, I would vote no on rewarding your failure to conduct the final check before the deal was closed.

That having been said, if you paid by credit card you should immediately consult your card issuer about a back door remedy.

Wait, you did not check that it was the correct firearm you wanted, and that is somehow not your fault? If you had two hours worth of waiting I would say you had ample time to make dang sure what your were paying for is what you wanted. I understand that they should have made sure it was right, but two hours past and you never noticed that it was the wrong caliber... and now you want something for free. Nice...

Good luck with that, from Wal Mart.

I recently ordered a pair of Leupold PRW low rings from a local store. I was told they would cost less than $50, but when they came in, I was asked to pay over $66 for them.

I told the guy, "No, I can get them cheaper online". He couldn't care less, so they still have them if anyone wants to throw that kind of money away.

I'm not sure what wal-mart did wrong here? Did you look it over first? Personally I think your more at fault than Wal-Mart.

A buddy of mine bought a Remington 700 wanted .270 instead got .243 he went back to the store and brought up the issue with the manager, turns out that the guy had recorded the serial number of the .270 on the ATF book and basically conducted the sale on the wrong gun. They worked it out where he kept the .243 but got some free ammo out of it. The manager was PISSED that one of his guys had messed up the ATF book.

Yeah, as far as guns and ammo, I'm buddies with the gun counter guy, I asked for three boxes of 12ga, got 2 and a box of 20, tried to walk back in when I got to the car, he said it was his fault, manager still wouldn't take it back.

Fair warning this may be out of line:

If you did not check the firearm before purchase please return it to the store. Then please if you own any other firearms, archery equipment, anything flammable or sharper than a steak knife have someone remove them from your home. If you do not know to check the firearm as far as the workings, everything in the box, caliber, ect. before walking out then you should not be owning it. Next thing you know you will forget to check if it is loaded and rest the barrel on your foot.

If the ATF book was recorded for the 270, and not the 243, and what the customer WANTED was 270 not 243, why on gods green earth did they just not swap out the guns???

For those of you who think they just had the gun out the whole time you're wrong, they brought it out at the last minute and it was a bad T-Storm going on outside, and I did check over the rifle, but I forgot to look at the caliber, so if I have an associate telling me it's a .300 win mag I'm supposed to be sure of it. So it's NOT really my fault.

@Sam1911

No I'm not upset I got the better gun, they asked if I wanted to exchange it today and I told them no I would like to speak with the manager, but the manager wasn't in. and how do I put someone elses quote in here?

@highorder

I know they lie, I've had them lie to me before when I knew what I was talking about, so I know but thanks. Even when they brought the box out they said it was a .300 win mag, and I looked in the book where I had to sign my name and the book said .300 win mag. So apparently there was a mix-up some where.

If only there were a commonly used latin phrase the summed up this situation. Something about the guy buying something should watch out or something like that.

See, here's your problem. Your only real remedy if they sold you the gun was the exchange it for the right one. You refused that, therefore, they really shouldn't give you anything. They offered to set it right and you are trying to take them for some free ammo.

right click, copy, hit qoute box, insert quote. sorry I would've looked at box to make sure that Wally put down correct serial number and caliber that was on the box matched the paperwork. :D
