I'd like to get some advice about whether or not I should buy a particular AR...

I'm deployed in Afghanistan and my unit set up a deal with Superior Arms several months ago for a commemorative AR-15 (Magazine well engraved with unit crest) that would be available to those in my unit for $750. It was a good deal before all this panic buying but with the AWB potential and panic buying back in the US, it seems like something maybe I shouldn't pass up. Superior Arms says that they will still honor the deal but it might take 6 months to deliver... which is fine since I can't take possession of it until I redeploy anyway. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
- You can never have too many ARs
- Even if the AWB doesn't take place, I'm not likely to find another AR at this price for a very long time
- If the AWB is emplaced, this might be my last chance to buy one
- The engraving stuff is kind of cool

Cons:
- I already have an AR and wasn't really in the market for one - there are other guns higher on my list
- If I was, I'm not sure I would have picked Superior Arms (don't really know much about them... not saying they are bad, just have to do more research)
- If the AWB doesn't pass, ARs will be back on the market eventually so this probably wouldn't be my last chance.

Anybody have any compelling reason, one way or another, why I should go ahead and buy it or not?

Still a good price for a working rifle with the engraving even if the prices come back down. I'd do it.

I would. $750 is a decent price, even at pre-panic prices. If you decide you don't need a particular number of ARs, use one to finance something that is higher on your list at a later time.

I'd also buy it. $750 was a good price pre-panic as you already know, plus you'll have a great keepsake with your unit crest.

I would buy it just so I could pull it out of the safe in 25 years and remember. I agree with the others though. 750$ for a complete gun was a good price before this scare. Today, I would consider that to be an awesome deal.

I'd buy it. Unit Crest + sentimental value + eventual historical military collectable = priceless.

Buy it. That's my suggestion.

i have seen two rifles of theirs run in competition with zero problems. also spoke with the owners and they had nothing negative to say about them. that is a very good rifle at a VERY good price. the added engraving just makes it that much better.

i say buy it without hesitation.

If I could have bought a rifle with my command crest, I would have jumped on it. I'm sure you will regret it if you pass on this.

If you have the money now, you will never regret buying it later. If you don't buy it now, even it's because you don't have the money and there's nothing you can do about it, you will probably regret not buying it.

Holy cow, I expected more pros than cons from you guys, but the responses are all unanimous. I guess that's what I get for asking if I should buy a gun on a gun forum :) Still, I think the input here has tipped me over the edge for buying it. I'll send in the order form today. Thanks for the input & giving me some perspective of how I might think about it in future years.

Kansan, first off thank you for your service. Secondly, It is a great deal. Do it, do it. Again thanks, and God bless.....

I guess if you aren't going to keep it I would say no. Not everyone would want a military unit marked AR.

I believe that AR prices will eventually go back to normal and you would be able to get a 750 Ar pretty easy. So save the money for accesories or ammo or the gun you want more.

I'd say buy it. And if you find you're not happy with Superior Arms' rifle, odds are their lower is fine so you could upgrade the upper later with something really good.
