Local fellow, says in the ad, he needs the cash or he's gonna loose the house.
Now it's not a Brown I would order, but they are going for $2,200-$2300, He already went to $1,500. Is it a good move to pick it up at or near that price just because?
I even asked the wife, would you mind, she said no, but I still feel funny spending that money on a gun I really wouldn't choose, even though I am in the market for a 1911. And it is an Ed Brown, what you think? I had this in the autoloader section, but I have to move on it tonight or someone's going to grab it, so help a guy decide I'm conflicted. I didn't get any rave reviews on it, and 1,500 is still a decent amount, I could have the custom shop at Smith make me up one the way I want it for a few bucks more.

I would do it if for no other reason than for the resale value, assuming I had the cash to spare. Then if you want, turn it around and make a tidy profit.

I handled that model some time ago. It was very nice, but not the model I was looking for either. I don't remember the price, but that shop was very competitive pricewise and I'm sure it would have been a good deal. I didn't buy it cause I knew I'd never quite be happy with it. In this economy, I don't think I'd buy a model I didn't really want in hopes of reselling it for a quick profit. I know some do that and it works, but doesn't seem to work that well for me...

I think the Jim Wilson gun is an Executive Elite with the white grips and Jim Wilson's name on it. I personally would prefer a gun without Wilson's name...but for $1500.00 if the gun is in pristine shape, I would probably buy it even if it said Mickey Mouse on the slide. :p

It's not that model, they made a commander size also. This is the full size with wood grips, fullsize blk frame. Unimpressive to look at

The full size had fake ivory grips by tru ivory a green night sight front only and the sheriff autograph on slide. Had a stainless barrel bushing also . I saw the 2 guy ordered where we all hang out. He paid around 1950 for each.one
The front night sight only I remember I really liked and have been changing all my pistol to a front sight only . No more 3 dot.

If it's not the 1911 your looking for, buying it and reselling it will make the one for you that much cheaper. At $1500, you will make a nice profit.

It is as you describe, but no ivory grips, if you google it you will see a model with wood double diamond and skeletonized hammer 3 hole trigger sig on slide, 1 side says sherriff and his sig, the other nothing, 4-8 round mags and a galco. It appears to be a stock photo, The same one is on the web. It's still up so no one is burning to pick it up, I made him a lower offer. I called my bud who owns a gun store, and he said he wasn't interested even for investment, so I asked what he would pay, and he hesitated and said you know, I sad 6-7 he said yep. So the guy may get desperate enough by Friday "when he needs the cash" to come down a few hundred. I made him an offer and explained why I was offering him that amount, also told him I felt bad about his situation, but it was just a business transaction to me.
So I will see.
