Should I just shell out $1250 and get a P7M8?

The P7 is a great gun. I love mine.

Plus, it will do everything a Glock will do, and only costs three times as much.

You might want to take a look as the PSP also. I don't own one, but am thinking about picking up one from CDNN. They are only $899 and I think are better suited for concealed carry anyway.

FWIW, I read through the SOG mailout that got here yesterday. SOG is doing a "12 days of Christmas" sale, and every day for 12 days they have an item on sale for that day only.

Friday, December 16th, they are selling P7 psps (that's the european heel magazine release) for $695, with the hard case and 1 mag.

On the PSP, I didn't find the lack of heat shield "meaningless". That gas tube heats up quick under repeated fire.
But I loved shooting it.

I bought mine back in II (1988 ;) ) and haven't looked back. What else will you get for the $1250??? holster? extra mags? anything??? Seems a little high, but if it's calling you, it may be hard to resist!

I paid 6-ish for mine from a GB on this board awhile back. Best six hundred that I have EVER spent! ;)

I'm part of the cult of the P7 so I say get it. Love the gun and have 5 of them (2 M8s, 2 PSPs and an M13). One of the M8s is a refurb that I use as a range gun: shoot a lot, clean little.

Until I got old and decided I really like to carry the very light S&W scandium 340, I use to carry an PSP. Very flat. Very safe to carry.

Cruise over to the cult of the P7 at parkcitiestactical.com. They have a classic threads forum that captures the pros and cons of the P7.

So what makes them worth $1200 again? I have handled them and thought they were just okay. They are heavy and not even SS. What makes them the ultimate 9mm? For $1200 you can get two SS Kahr K-9s and they would be lighter and easier to CCW. The K-9 is one of the best compact 9mms and everything else being equal, I would pick the K-9 over the H&K any day.

In my opinion, they're overrated, especially for that price. I bought a new P7M8 back around 1990, kept it for about 5 years and sold it. No regrets. I tried to like it but it never impressed me enough and had its quirks, which I didn't care for.
It's a well-made gun and it's accurate, but so are lots of other guns. The squeeze cocker is unique. But I just didn't think it was all that special. It was kind of pretty though.
The whole "cult status" thing has added to the appeal of the gun. I think some people feel like they're a more sophisticated and discriminating gun owner by having one or more of these guns - a status symbol almost.
I suppose if someone really has the urge to buy one of these guns they owe it to themselves to give it a try. But they should try to be honest with themselves when evaluating the gun and not let its cult status cloud their evaluation.
I prefer my plain old Kahr K9 to the P7M8. The K9 isn't pretty or sexy or overly unique like the P7M8 but then, that's not what I bought it for

Maybe they're not worth $1200. I bought my LNIB P7M8 for $800 and my excellent condition P7 PSP BMI import for $625. So I got two P7's for the price your stating. For that money they are worth it. The SOG PSP at $695 are the current "deal" in P7's.

Heat shield - My PSP gets hot after rapid shooting of about 50 - 70 rounds. I don't see that as a negative. At the range, after a box of ammo, I put it down and shoot something else anyway. I don't see mye shooting 50 - 70 round sin a self defense situation, in fact I only carry two mags and a total of 17 rounds.

Pilot, are you talking about southern ohio gun? I checked their website and didnt see any psp's there.

A local private party has a "NIB" P7M8. They're asking $1250. I guess at this point it's gonna be tough to find a new one, or even a slightly used one, better than that price. Should I just bite the bullet and pay the $1250, or hold out for a better price? Ordnance Outsellers has reburbished ones for $1099, but they only come with one mag. Figured I might as well spend the $150 more and get a NIB with 2 mags, plus the ease of a PPT is probably worth a few bucks to me. I welcome opinions from High Roaders. Thanks.

Hell no! Don't blow all of that $$$ for a NIB P7M8.

Some of us have several P7s.:neener: :neener: :neener:

I bought all three of mine used. If you plan to shoot that P7, why pay $1250 to then shoot a box through it for it to then be worth $800-900?

You can snag those used for $800ish and I'd only offer that clown $900 for his NIB P7M8. A dealer would not give him any more than say $800ish so why should you?

If you search around, you can do WAY better UNLESS you want a safe queen.

The PSPs with European heel releases are going for $699 used (BMI German police trade ins). You could buy two of those that that kind of money and hardchrome one for CCW and use the blued one for the range.;)

But if you MUST have an American-style mag release, start barfing up that lung:barf: :barf:

I'd look at the PSPs for the money - same shooters too.

Stage 2,

Waterhouse posted the above. Call Southern Ohio Gun (SOG) and ask them. They do this once in a while and you won't see the specials on their website.
